Why buy R4 3DS card?

R4 3DS card is also called R4i-SDHC 3DS card, it is made by r4i-sdhc.com. As a special enhanced flashcard for Nintendo 3DS, the R4 3DS card contains all functions of old R4i-SDHC card. It has very good compatibility, simple operation interface, strong technology service. It is one of the most popular flashcard on Nintendo 3DS console. More and more 3DS users are useing this R4 3DS card to play games, listen music, watch Video, read E-book....... No matter for top players or green hand, it is the first choice.  How ever, R4 3DS can only run DSi games on Nintendo 3DS console, it can't run any 3DS games currently.         

How to set up R4 3DS card?

R4 3DS card use R4i-3DS kernel, the latest version is R4i-3DS V1.67b, which was released on Mar 27th. r4i-sdhc.com update the R4 3DS firmware every month. It always fixed some bugs, and support Nintendo 3DS new update.  It is very easy to install software to R4 3DS card. But if you a a new user, just do step by step as below process:
  Step 1: Download R4 3DS kernel to computer, it is a zipped patch. (Such as R4i-3DS V1.53b).
  Step 2: Unzip the patch into 4 files: “moonmemo”, “moonshl2”, “R4iMenu’ and “r4.dat”.
  Step 3: Open R4 3DS box, use the USB reader to copy the 4 files to the root directory of a MicroSD card.
  Step 4: Download Nintendo DS games to computer, unzip the file, and put the games to the MicroSD card.
  Step 5: insert the MicroSD card to R4 3DS card, and put r4 card to Nintendo 3DS/DSi/DS console for play.

Note: if your R4 3DS card is very old version (which released before Aug 2011), you may need to upgrade the card for 3DS V3.0.0-6 and DSi V1.4.3.

Old R4 3DS card upgrade for 3DS and DSi V1.4.4 console

If the R4 3DS card is very old version, (which was released long time ago), it may can't work on 3DS V3.0.0 and DSi V1.4.3 console. While put the R4 card inside the console, it shows: "System error, please reset your system to fix the problem" or "error, firmware need to be upgrade". To fix the problem, you need another DS Lite or DSi V1.4.1 console to upgrade the R4 3DS card. Just do as follow:

1. Update the R4 3DS kernel to the latest version.
2. Insert MicroSD card to R4 card, and put r4 3ds card to the DS Lite.
3. Power on the DS Lite, enter the Mainmenu.
4. Enter: "Configure" - "Upgrade" menu, click "Upgrade" key to start upgrade process.
5. Wait about 20 seconds, the upgrade finished. 
   Then, the r4 3ds card can be used in latest Nintendo 3DS V3.0.0-6 E/U/J and DSi V1.4.3 console.

    R4i-3DS V1.68b update on May 15th, it fixed some new DS games on R4 3DS flashcard.
    1. Support upgrade for 3DS 5.1

    Hi i have bought a R4 card and have done everything it says to do but. when i load it up in my nintendo ds it says menu? on the top screen anybody have any clue of what to do.

    Starting off: I know the R4 3DS doesn't actually play 3DS roms, but why are the roms still produced?; when a kernel does come out compatible with 3DS games will a new card have to be bought or can we keep the same 3DS card, because it makes logical sense that we could keep the card because the card is only needed so that it is read by the console; lastly, I've read a lot of speculation on the progress of a 3DS kernel, is there any site on the web that provides information on just how far or close they are to creating one? I just got a 3DS and an R4 3DS and it was the biggest dump life took on me this month.

    I've had my r4 card for a few years now. Its one of the really old ones for DS and DS lite. I was told I could get it to work on my 3ds with the latest kernel but I tried running it one my 3ds and it isn't even being picked up. Could anyone offer some advice.

    r43ds: your r4 card is very old version, it use old core. I think it can not work on 3ds console. you need to buy a new r4 3ds card.

    good news, the r4 3ds card already break 3DS V4.3.0-10 E/U/J. please isntall the latest r4i-3ds v1.60b kernel. If your r4 card is old version, you may need a ds or dsi console to upgrade the r4 3ds card in advance.
